Figuring out the causes of your tailbone pain (causes of a sore tailbone, painful coccyx, coccyx bone pain, tail bones that hurt)
Screening for other causes of symptoms of low back pain, buttock pain, pelvic pain, muscle pain, etc. (including screening for pilonidal cysts, coccyx cancer, sciatica, sacroiliac joint pain, lumbosacral facet pain, lumbar disc herniations, piriformis muscle pain, and other problems, etc.)
Tests for Tailbone Pain Dr. Foye helps his patients find the underlying cause of their pain, including an individualized approach that may sometimes (if necessary) include ordering and/or interpreting the following:
Tailbone x-rays (coccyx x-rays, including comparing x-rays while standing versus sitting)
Pain medications (various different types of prescription pain medications taken by mouth)
Tailbone injections (coccyx injections, including using fluoroscopy to guide precisely placed steroid injections, ganglion Impar injections, coccyx nerve blocks, etc.)
Advice regarding coccyx removal surgery (coccygectomy), e.g. as a non-surgeon providing a second opinion in patients previously told that they require surgery. Referral to surgery if truly needed.
